Book Review: Redeem Me by J. L. Seegars
Just finished Redeem Me by J. L. Seegars and whew… when I say this might be the spiciest book I’ve ever read, I mean it 😭🔥
But what really surprised me was how well it was done. The spice never felt repetitive or thrown in just to be there. It actually felt like part of the story. Like if you skipped those scenes, you’d genuinely miss moments that built intimacy between the characters and pushed their relationship forward.
And the male lead???
That man was a MANNNNNN. The kind of character who just commands the page. I love when a romance author can write a male lead that feels strong, grounded, and emotionally present without it feeling corny.
The book was definitely long, but the pacing worked for me. It never dragged. And I loved that the author gave us so many bonus chapters so we could stay in their world a little longer. Those extra moments with the characters made the ending feel really satisfying.
She also set up the next romance in the series in the messiest way possible (in the best way) and now I’m lowkey intrigued to see how that situation plays out.
My rating: 4.5/5
Not quite a full 5 stars for me, but way better than I expected going in. There wasn’t a ton of flowery language or heavy prose, but the story still carried.
Right now I’m juggling a few reads:
A Vicious Game by Melissa Blair (my fantasy read)
Miss Pearly’s Girls for book club and I'm reading it on my Kindle.
I’m not super excited about Miss Pearly’s Girls yet, but I am excited about book club. I’m really trying to build more community with people who share the same hobbies, especially reading. Sometimes the best part of a book is having people to talk about it with after.
If you’ve read Redeem Me, I need to know your thoughts 👀
And if you’re reading anything good right now, drop your recs because my TBR is always growing.
